The application process itself is not unique to Fort Worth, but where families get local help with it is: the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County can walk a family through the paperwork and what documentation to gather before applying, at no cost. Outside Tarrant County -- in Parker, Johnson, Denton or Wise County -- that same kind of hands-on help comes from the North Central Texas Council of Governments Aging and Disability Resource Center instead, since Tarrant County runs its own separate Area Agency on Aging rather than falling under the regional NCTCOG umbrella that covers the rest of this metro.
